This 1997 Defender 90 Heritage Edition tribute is finished in Land Rover Grasmere green with a tan Exmoor Trim canvas soft top. It's currently configured with its full canvas soft top, but will also come with a black bikini top, so you have the options to choose multiple configurations. To celebrate 67 years of production and the conclusion of the "Defender" model lineup 2015, Land Rover built a limited number of Heritage Editions. This 1997 Defender 90 was refurbished as a tribute to those 2015 Heritage Edition Defender models, with its classic style and historical significance this is a homage and purpose-built tribute to the now legendary "HUE 166" Land Rover. The small two-door off-roader registered with the license plate "HUE 166" in Britain kick-started the SUV that would keep in production to 2015. For the original Heritage Editions, Land Rover turned to their inspiration, the company’s very first pre-production vehicle, a Land Rover Series 1. It was in the summer of 1947 that Maurice Wilks (then technical chief of Rover) came up with the idea of a world-conquering vehicle to kick-start exports for the ailing Rover car company. The first of the prototypes rolled out of the factory on March 11, 1948, with the first UK registration plate of “HUE 166” affectionately called “Huey”. Overall, it’s a lovely vintage Defender 90 with plenty of old school strength mixed with classic charm. There just aren't many vehicles on the road that are as rugged and yet stylish as this one.
While it retains the same boxy design and the overall features of a regular Defender, the Heritage Edition benefits from some unique exterior elements. First up is the vintage Grasmere green paint paired with a tan canvas soft top, which makes for a lovely and classic combination. As well as the galvanized door hinges, front bumper with black bumper end caps, color-coded bespoke front grille, clear LED lights, body-colored headlamp surrounds, Land Rover logo mudflaps and alloy wheels. Inside it’s as simple as you'd expect for an old Land Rover, with Exmoor Trim grey seats up front, chrome gear knobs and an elegant 3 spoke woodrim steering wheel. In the rear it’s fitted with matching grey bench seats with lap belts. All lights, heater, wipers, and gauges work, as they should. On the outside it sits on Land Rover 16” Boost alloy wheels wrapped with Goodyear Wrangler A/T tires which gives it some iconic styling. Fitted with the desirable 300Tdi diesel engine with a R380 5-speed manual transmission. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged direct injection (Tdi) engine has 137k miles and is a great cruiser with all the character and charm you need for the ultimate driving experience. The 5-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case permit decent highway cruising and low-speed crawling with equal success, whilst returning decent fuel economy of around 25-28mpg. The chassis, bulkhead and doorframes all show in very good condition. This Heritage style Defender 90 “HUE 166” has timeless appeal, so you get the traditional ruggedness blended with some of the best vintage style.

This is a very historic 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 Wolf XD (Extra Duty), it’s an Ex MoD (Ministry of Defense) having served in the British Army. It’s in a soft top configuration, finished in NATO green, with all the military adventure goodies, pioneer tool kit, gun racks, fire extinguisher, full roll cage, extra spare wheels, it’s a heavy-duty monster. This is not just any standard Defender; this is one purpose-built Defender Wolf. A Defender Wolf was built far stronger and more reliable than civilian Defender models on which it is based. The chassis is considerably different in design, even though it looks similar, the Wolf was built with a stronger reinforced chassis, better tub support, stronger upgraded 300Tdi engine, 24volt electrical system, heavy duty axels where re-engineered, heavy-duty suspension was fitted, making one of the strongest Land Rover axles ever made. Heavy duty clutches are also used with the R380 5-speed gear box, oil coolers were added, and front/rear disc brakes and power assisted steering. Wolfs are equipped with a front steering guard, to offer improved cross-country capability and front-end protection. A full Safety Devices roll cage is fitted, with a reinforced bulkhead, stronger sills and top rails, the radiator surround frame was also beefed up. Though outwardly it looks a lot like a regular Defender, the Wolf is a considerably upgraded and was developed with very little attention paid to comfort and a lot of attention paid to toughness, durability, and reliability. These XD-WOLF Defenders were built by Land Rover exclusively for the Ministry of Defense and are often referred to as Defenders on steroids. All in all, this is one hardcore Defender 90.
This Wolf maintains its classic, rugged style and is a well-presented piece of British motoring heritage. Being an ex-Military Land Rover, it's very minimalistic and simple, just the way we like them so you can enjoy the driving experience to the max. Inside it has grey Exmoor Trim seats and Exmoor Trim rear bench seats in the cargo area, making it a full six-seater. This soft top Wolf gives an impressive style, with correct Wolf steel wheels wrapped in Michelin XZL tires (x6, that’s right, not just one spare but two). It also has perfect stance with 1.5inch suspension spacers upfront to level out the front end and avoid a rake. It’s equipped with all the adventure goodies of an original military Land Rover with a pioneer tool kit, shovel, pick axe, tow strap, center mounted fire extinguisher, jerry cans, and even center gun mounts with replica British SA80 rifles (air soft prop guns). The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged direct injection (Tdi) engine has 64k miles and is a great cruiser with all the character and charm you need for the ultimate driving experience. The 5-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case permit decent highway cruising and low-speed crawling with equal success, whilst returning decent fuel economy of around 25-28mpg. The chassis, bulkhead and doorframes all show in excellent condition. It’s currently configured in open top mode, with no canvas soft top or window door frames, for the best wind in your hair driving experience. It will be sold with a brand-new soft top with the window door tops. The buyer may choose the canvas soft top color, either in black, sand or khaki. Head down to your local hardware store on the weekend and see how many necks you break or compliments you’ll receive, as there probably won't be another truck like it in the parking lot. This Defender 90 Wolf will not disappoint, especially for a buyer looking for a “Life’s too Short to Drive a Boring Car".
This is an incredibly well documented and well-maintained Defender Wolf, complete with all military service records and military inspection reports. As part of the British Military, it was meticulous cared for, maintained and serviced above and beyond anything normal, all detailed with extensive paperwork and recorded documents. From the military documents it served within the Household Division of Foot Guards. The regiments most well-known for the guard’s soldiers posted outside Royal Palaces in and around London, dressed in their scarlet tunics and bearskin hats, are famous the world over. It served between 1998-2013 within the Household Division foot regiments mainly moving between the Grenadier Guards, the Scots Guards, the Irish Guards, and the Welsh Guards. The household Guards regiments have two roles in the British Army; first and foremost, they are highly trained infantry soldiers who carry out operational duties worldwide, who in addition to their combat role train for Public Duties where they take part in State and Royal ceremonial events. After its ceremonial role it was posted overseas to Africa with the British Army Training Unit Kenya from 2013 to 2022. So, I’m sure it’s been through many adventures, worthy of a true Land Rover Defender.

This classic 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 is finished in Land Rover Caledonian blue all over and is a left-hand drive (LHD) example that was originally delivered to Italy. The rare blue looks stunning in the sunshine, plus with its color-coded wheel arches, it all blends lovely together. This Italian stallion Defender 90, 2.0-liter MPi might be the “police interceptor” of Land Rovers. This model was specially built for Italian law enforcement, including its exclusive 2.0L gas engine. This Defender retired from a special fleet of Land Rovers built for Italy’s Carabinieri, the country’s quasi-military police force. It was not offered in the regular Defender engine line up except, only by special fleet order, which was chosen for the Italian Carabinieri police because it was quicker and faster than the diesel engine models and more efficient than the gas V8 offered at the time. All such Defenders were exclusively equipped with a 2.0L gasoline engine from the Rover family, which gave them a respectably top speed of 98-mph, which was quicker than any of the Tdi engines, yet still offered decent 23 mpg of fuel economy. It was manufacturer rated at 136hps horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, respectable figures for a 2.0L gas engine for the mid 1990’s. The Rover 2.0L MPi is a DOHC, 16-valve, four-cylinder gas engine with electronically controlled fuel injection and is mated to the robust R380 five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. It has 112,673 kilometers, which is around 70,000 miles and has been updated with a current speedometer which is now in corresponding miles per hour. There just aren't many vehicles on the road that are as rugged and yet stylish as this one.
